Zac Efron has purchased a home in Hollywood Hills for $3.995 million. The actor, who owns another house nearby in Hollywood Hills West, bought a two-story Zen-inspired contemporary behind gates at the end of a long driveway. The 5,644-square-foot home, built in 1964, features panoramic city to ocean views, expanses of glass, an open floor plan, a wine cellar, a gym and a fountain inside the entry. Including the guesthouse there are five bedrooms and five bathrooms. The more than three-quarter-acre lot contains a pool and spa area with a waterfall.

For Zac Efron, it appears that one awesome shirtless performance has led right to another, as he accepted his MTV Movie Award half naked on Sunday night.  The actor, who won the trophy for shirtless performance by stripping down in "That Awkward Moment," had promised in March to take off his top for the awards if he beat Chris Hemsworth's hotness in "Thor. " At first, it seemed as if he wasn't going to follow through on his pledge. But with Rita Ora providing a bit of stripping assistance - she came up behind him and ripped open his snap-closure shirt - he eventually delivered.  "If I beat Thor- I'm accepting the award shirtless on stage.

"That Awkward Moment" star Zac Efron had, ahem, one of those himself when he got into a scuffle with at least one homeless person early Sunday after he and a friend found themselves stranded in downtown Los Angeles. No arrests were made, but the incident comes at a time when the 26-year-old former "High School Musical" heartthrob would presumably rather be basking in the early buzz for his comedy "Neighbors," which opens May 9 from Universal. In the raunchy, R-rated film, Efron plays a hard-partying fraternity leader who feuds with Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne's young married couple, and reviews out of the SXSW film festival this month were very good.

Zac Efron won't be flashing his pearly whites to anyone for a while. The actor has reportedly broken his jaw in what appears to be a classic slapstick accident.   Efron, 26, had to have his mouth wired shut after he slipped in a puddle of water Sunday at the entrance of his L.A.-area home and broke his jaw, E! News reported .  The "Parkland" star also got a pretty big gash that had to be stitched, the site said. PHOTOS: Celebrities injured on set The "High School Musical" alum was set to promote his upcoming comedy, "That Awkward Moment," which is set for January release, but those plans have been pushed back, according to E!

During the quiet Super Bowl weekend, Zac Efron's new R-rated comedy, "That Awkward Moment," will likely sack "Ride Along" and Jason Reitman's new effort, "Labor Day. "  Written and directed by first-timer Tom Gormican, the raunchy "That Awkward Moment," from Focus Features, is expected to gross $12 million or more in ticket sales through Sunday in the U.S. and Canada, which would be a solid result for a film that cost just $8 million to produce.  ...

TORONTO -- In another example of the upside-down world celebrities can create at the Toronto International Film Festival, it was Zac Efron who attracted huge crowds of mostly young women to the Princess of Wales Theater for the Sunday premiere of the new film by Ramin Bahrani, director of “Chop Shop” and “Goodbye Solo.” Not exactly the filmmaker's usual demo, as Bahrani himself said onstage while introducing the film with his producers: “You...

That awkward moment when you're asked about rehab on live, national television? Yeah, that's what happened to Zac Efron on Tuesday.  The former Disney star hit the "Today" show with his costars Michael B. Jordan and Miles Teller to promote their upcoming raunchy rom-com, "That Awkward Moment. " And host Savannah Guthrie somewhat appeased those who have been keeping up with Efron's escapades, specifically reports that he had been to rehab for a drug addiction. "I know last year was a little bit hard," Guthrie said.

Zac Efron was involved in an altercation with transients in downtown L.A. in the wee hours on Sunday, and as with most things that happen in the big city after midnight, the details are, well, fuzzy. Film critics have spoken, and their message to the new bromantic comedy "That Awkward Moment" is, "It's not us, it's you. " The majority of reviewers agree that although "Awkward Moment" has a likable cast, led by Zac Efron, Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan, the movie leans too heavily on cliches while its raunchy gags fall flat. The Times' Betsy Sharkey says , "The issue is not with the premise per se" - the premise being that three 20-something New York buddies make a pact to stay out of serious relationships.

"That Awkward Moment," starring Zac Efron, Michael B. Jordan, Miles Teller and many beddable beauties, is technically about the moment when a woman wants the relationship to be something more and the guy walks away. What "Awkward" is theoretically about are the ways that moment gets dicey when guys figure out they actually care about the females in question. But what "Awkward" is actually about, albeit unintentionally, is how passing off misogyny for comedy has gotten so terribly passé, as insulting to the guys as to the young women.

Ever since the “High School Musical” series concluded, Zac Efron has been trying to distance himself from his days as a teen pinup. But his first major drama, 2010's tear-jerker “Charlie St. Cloud,” didn't do much to cement his reputation as a serious actor: The movie earned tepid reviews and didn't make a significant dent at the box office. The 24-year-old is hoping things will finally change with “The Lucky One,” the Nicholas Sparks adaptation coming out Friday in which he stars as Logan, a soldier trying to track down the subject of a photograph he believes kept him out of harm's way during wartime.

Has Zac Efron been to rehab in recent months? That was the word out Tuesday from unnamed sources, alleging to several media outlets that the "17 Again" actor had wrapped up treatment about five months ago. Efron, whose newest flick, "Parkland," debuted at the Venice Film Festival and recently was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival, walked the Toronto red carpet for the film this month. "He's healthy, happy and not drinking," one source told E! News , which first reported the story.
