These are the games where all heads normally turn to Kobe Bryant. Regardless of title - opponent, teammate, fan or hater - everyone in attendance anticipates Bryant's time in the crunch for the Lakers, successful or not. But without him, you get a game like Friday's between the Lakers and Memphis Grizzlies, and a score that didn't favor the home team at Staples Center. GAME SUMMARY: Grizzlies 89, Lakers 86 Zach Randolph was the man on the spot and he delivered with several late plays to push Memphis to an 89-86 victory.

Seems passing on that chance to be an LSU quarterback might have been a wise decision for right-hander Zach Lee. On Friday the Dodgers named Lee as their Minor League Pitcher of the Year. Scott Schebler, an outfielder who hit 27 home runs for Class-A Rancho Cucamonga, was named the Minor League Player of the Year. Lee was a first-round draft pick in 2010 who had fallen to 28 th overall because he had enrolled at LSU to play quarterback. Most figured he could not be signed . In his third season in the minors, Lee went 10-10 with a 3.22 ERA at double-A Chattanooga.

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Shortly after Zach Johnson tapped in on No. 18 at Conway Farms, he bent over, taking a deep breath. It was a moment of reflection after he fired a final-round, six-under-par 65 to win the BMW Championship by two shots. "I just had to gather myself," he said. "I feel blessed. The peace I had out there …" The Iowa native felt the love all day from the 10,000-plus fans who endured muddy conditions to witness the Monday finish. "I'm not from Chicago," Johnson said, "but I feel local.

Zach Hodskins, whose left arm ends at his elbow and who became a YouTube sensation after a video was posted of him playing basketball, has been offered a spot as a walk-on at the University of Florida by Coach Billy Donovan. Hodskins has played high school and AAU ball over the last few years. He hasn't decided yet whether to accept the offer, which would guarantee Hodskins a place on the team, but he won't get a scholarship. Before you cry out "gimmick for publicity," watch the video of Hodskins playing.

GULLANE, Scotland - Zach Johnson led and Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson loomed after Thursday's first round of the British Open at Muirfield. Johnson had four birdies, one eagle and a bogey for 66, five under par. "All in all, very solid," he said, "but it's just one round. " Woods and Mickelson, crowd favorites, were in a group of six only three shots back at 69. That group included 19-year-old Jordan Spieth, winner of last week's John Deere Classic. Woods, continuing to pursue his 15th major title and first since he won the U.S. Open in 2008 at Torrey Pines, began by yanking his opening tee shot into heavy rough and needing to take a drop that led to a bogey.

Zach Harris' visionary paintings set within meticulously crafted frames were standouts in last year's "Made in L.A. " exhibition at the Hammer Museum, and also something of a revelation. Harris hadn't yet had a solo gallery appearance in L.A., though he has shown several times in New York. Now his time has come and the nine recent paintings on view at David Kordansky are again standouts and, in themselves, revelations. The paintings feel intensely interior, like mindscapes more than landscapes, though jagged mountain-range forms are a recurring motif.

In 1993, a very young Zach Braff had a brief part as Woody Allen's college-age son in "Manhattan Murder Mystery.
